If bear stompin' is your thing, you'll still get at least 1000fps with a 355gr or 1100fps with a 330gr.
Out of a 3 3/4" barrel? You may but I won't.
Comfort-wise, all else being equal, I'd rather shoot heavy loads through a 3¾" Bisley than a regular 7½" Blackhawk.
If I'm in bear country (and we have a few here) I'd generally avoid them, but if that fails I'd much rather be open carrying a revolver with a 5 1/2" barrel. Just so happens I have a Super Blackhawk that meets that description, and I have considered changing the grip frame to the Bisley style, but I'm under no great pressure to do it.
If by chance a .44 Special Flat Top should come my way with a fluted cylinder and 4 5/8" barrel I'd be more likely to switch out the grip frame on it - unless of course it came that way in the first place.
