Midway stocks a brand called Iosso, but they are out of stock at the moment.

Has anyone even tried this stuff?

It appears to get all the carbon out from the inside.

Any experience out there with this?

Some bullseye shooters use a capful of phosphoric acid to two gallons of water, pour in cases (carefully) and watch it fizz up. Kill the acid with baking soda and rinse thoroughly. You can dry them in the oven. Some cases will come out with dark spots and those are discarded.

I have tried this and it seems to work ok and the cases are very clean. I deprime before cleaning to clean primer pockets and avoid accidents. If anyone knows of a downside to this I would like to know.

Iosso

I have used Iosso. Seems to work pretty good. I soak cases for 20 - 30 seconds in the solution. Still need to wipe of black stuff on the necks off. After doing this, rinse them good and dry in low heat oven, or nail rack. The Birchwood-Casey concentrate may work as well. Haven't tried it.

You have to be careful with chemical cleaners, I recommend depriming before cleaning the cases. Several of the chemical cleaners will attack the primers, if you let them sit for awhile before reloading, the depriming pin can punch the bottom out of the primer and leave the sides, the case is ruined and has to be thrown out.

Thanks particularly, JSR & g56. A great article, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did. I will deprime/size 1st, too, after I tumble to remove dirt.

I got some used 9mm brass from Once-Fired, thru Midway. It was pretty obvious these cases were not just tumbled & polished. I was very impressed with how clean they were, like new, actually. I noticed just a small amount of brass corrosion inside, but I believe that might be better than a lot of carbon, which can get in the way of bullet seating. On small cases like 9mm, the tumbler just doesnt clean out enough carbon for my preference.

I appreciate your idea of drying them in the oven too, hivel37. Maybe that will limit the corrosion. It might come from the rinse water, before they dry, perhaps. Do you have a favorite low temperature?

The lowest this oven will set is 175 degs. About 20 minutes will dry them out. I always deprime first, as someone has suggested. Good luck.
