List of more than 170 banned guns in Illinois could grow

Yep, my shotgun just became an illegal assault weapon.

Just an ol pump, but it holds more than 4 so it has become an evil orc apparently.
That is not correct. Only semi auto shotguns with greater than 5 in the tube, so an 8 round Super Eagle is now verboten but a model 12 trench guns with shroud and bayonet is perfectly fine. Makes great sense.

I do question whether or not a semiauto shotgun loaded with mini shells will cross the line. A shotgun designed for 5 rounds of 3-1/2 magnums could in theory hold 10 or more of the shorties. If someone was found in possession of the two together could that constructively create a prohibited weapon?

Ah, well...good news, I suppose? I read the bill with general hand wringing , and recalled seeing shotguns over 4 rounds...

Don't think so and hope I'm not wrong but then I'm in big trouble

So you register your rifle and you die. Can your children keep your rifle or will the state police come knocking on the door to pick them up

I'm amazed that the anti faction had the level of expertise to assemble such a detailed list. I did not recognize ~1/2 of those guns. Is there a fungus among us?

But I thought it was amusing, then tragic, that the shortie shotshell capacity was apparently not addressed. Or the tube-magazine .22 bolt rifles which can hold over 20 .22 shorts.

You can bet that any such vagaries will be interpreted to deny you of more rights if it comes to badge versus you.

(Editorial): I still think lawmakers etc. who support or endorse any measures which are ultimately found to be unconstitutional should be held liable for perjury for violating their oaths of office.

....and apparently the list will only grow longer. Someone mentioned on another thread that ISP can (and most likely will) add guns to that list whenever they wish to. No surprise there.

So glad i escaped Illinois and moved to Indiana.

Congrats on your escape to freedom!
I left after retiring 2 years ago. I told my brother to bring his goods (and lots of spare ammo) to me for safe keeping (and free usage) :) He retired a few months ago and lives in a county that will not enforce the BS, but had planned to leave the sad state regardless of any "assault weapons" ban.

Illinois is a really good example of a state that needs to be busted up. Split off Chicago, Parkland and what not into their own state. It’d even be a win win for them with most of the house appropriation and two guaranteed for eternity dem senate seats.
Be careful what you wish for. If every large metropolitan area in the country became its own state, there would be an overwhelming Democratic majority in the Senate. The current aggregation into "states" works both ways.

Correct, as if Madison and Milw was thrown out of Wis., we would have a pretty good state here, but then they would each have their two reps, to over ride anything good that would come of it. Hope the people leaving Illinois leave their politics there, as we are getting very close to being over run up here.

I just had an interesting conversation with the owner of the shop where I used to work. He can’t get clarification on whether or not he can return consigned “illegal” guns to their owners. When you consign I IL, the gun goes into the dealers bound book. When it is taken back, a background check is required. Even though the background check doesn’t designate beyond “handgun” “long gun” or “other weapon” it could put him in a gray area.
There are going to be lots of problems to iron out.

I so very much agree!
AND be held liable for any harm done while unconstitutional laws were imposed.
Here in NY (how I understand it) the law makers have made it virtually impossible for them to be liable, as voted by themselves.
I hear quite often “you have the power to vote” which I agree with but you don’t have any control once they get their “power”.
