i've got the upper and bcg, wanting to do a budget build lower

for lower priced stripped lowers, what are the good brands?

recommendations for parts kits and 6 position stocks?

anyone know what is the going rate for said lower at houston gun shows these days?

thanks

Most all lowers, excluding billet ones, are made by a handful of companies and then the selling "manufacturer" cleans them up, stamps their logo on, and does the finish. here's a list of most of the manufacturer(s). Granted, the finish out and QC processes by the company that stamps their name on the side does vary:

LMT
Lauer
DS Arms
PWA

Knights Armament
Barrett

Continental Machine Tool

Stag

thanks jmorris for the informative and helpful post, i'll be keeping the info in my ar file

I just finished my AR from Kit. Bought the GSE (GunSmokeEnterprises) was the lowest price on the net, ordered it through my FFL Dealer, back ground fee included, cost$110-120 shipped. I've only put 30 rounds through it so far, but no complaints on my end.

thus far it is, thou i'm having troubles with certain ammo and the upper (see Brand New AR Extraction failure) I've only put 30+/- rounds throu it, but it feels solid so far. still has the rattle between the upper and lower.

Cheapest I've found is these
http://rguns.net/rifles/rifles-semiauto-ar15-lowers-556rguns-stripped.shtml#SHARPS

3 at a time was $205 total including shipping and FFL.

I just built them last night. All worked well, except one had a slightly undersize mag catch channel. I'll take care of that this evening. Finish is OK, but I don't care for the way the logo and lettering is cut into the surface, and they don't need to put their name 3 different places. But they work fine.
I was surprised they came in individual fitted plastic boxes. It doesn't make them any better, but it's a nice touch.
