Live and Dry Firing/M1 Garand

Gentlemen,
The top photo shows how Targeting was done on the M1 Garand. The shooter is standing and looking down his spotting scope. The rifle is in a rest. The second photo shows us how the sights were setup using a Target Machine. Notice the wood on the second photo Garand.
Some of these have been posted before, some have not.

Warning, before you go to my sites lower your volume as the opening page contains a sound file which has a loading and firing of the M1 Garand. So if you're at work or home it may be wise to check your volume control.

Thanks. Some ingenious procedures were used in those days--but did any of those test firers have any ear protection at all? I remember the late 50s and early 60s, and everyone just toughed it out, or at most stuffed a little cotton in their ears.

You know the ones--the old geezers that are always cupping their ears and saying "EH?".

Saw my first decent ear protectors around 1963 and just in time, too.
