Got me a LMT LM8SS 2 weeks ago and I noticed the finish is rough on it. Not sure if its the anodized process but it has what appears to be pit-like marks. Strangely I can deal with scratches or indentation since its the shipping process that create such marks. But if its the anodized process then thats a little concerning since Im paying for quality. BTW, the sling plate also has those pit marks too.

I seen it on Sigs 516, but Idid not pay too much for it. My PWS MK has a smooth finish compared to my LMT, and its priced similarly. I will be commenting to LMT about it....I wanted to get your thoughts.

The pit-like marks are on the upper receiver

Thanks for input jackal. After examining this firearm, I am severely disappointed with the quality. The gray film coating that they used inside the upper seemed to ooze a lil out to the exterior. The person who tightened the muzzle marred it, I understand that it is inherent this this might happen but for an expensive firearm at least be minimal marring. The suppressor that came with my PWS MK is tighten with extreme minimal mar, almost not existent.

I emailed my LMT my concerns.

Glad to hear you contacted LMT, and thanks for the pics.

Just checked my LM8 after seeing your post and it doesn't have the pit marks yours has. This can't be common or I'd expect we'd have seem similar finishing complaints before, given that the MWSs and LM8s have been out a while and their price-point is above the mid-range of 7.62 AR10s.

Regarding the "muzzle" tightening you mentioned, I assume you meant the FH? If there's marring where they wrenched it on, that would indicate sloppy work. I checked the A2 FH on my 18" SS SPR barrel and there's no marks on the part where they wrenched it. We replaced the factory A2 FH on the 16" C/L tube with a BABC, but I don't recalled that the A2 showed any obvious marring at the time.

I'm a huge fan of the MRP platform, so sorry to hear this happened.
FWIW, LMT has a solid rep for correcting factory issues for their customers so let us know how they handle this one.

I probably wouldn't have noticed...I have a regular MRP and would love an LM8 to shave a few more oz off the piggy.

In my opinion, marks of any kind from the build process should not exist on a rifle of this price. Heck, if PSA can put together an AR without dinging it up, LMT should certainly be able to.
