Hi everyone!
I plan to load some Hi-Tek 124 LRN bullets from ACME in the next couple days and I thought I'd ask for advice. I would prefer to create a mild target round using 700-X because I've got four 14oz containers of the stuff, and it meters very well in my Dillon. Does anyone have a pet load with this combination, or even a similar recipe (by which I mean a LRN bullet around 124 grs)? I'm also considering using Unique, HP-38, or True Blue, but I'd rather use up the 700-X.
Also, I've noticed that OAL varies quite a bit with published loads; I've come across 1.050" in Ramshot (124 gr LRN), 1.065" in Lyman (120 gr LRN), 1.125" in Hodgdon (125 gr LCN), and 1.142" in Vihtavouri (124 gr LSWC). I know bullet shape matters because it affects case capacity, and "124 lead bullet" can mean a number of different shapes. What OAL do you go with for round nose bullets?
