I saw a reference by Ken Waters for loading H4831 for .303 have never found the recipe. Anyone have information on it. I purchased 25 lbs of 4831 along with other reloading supplies at an estate sale back in the mid-1990s and have been using it ever since(and so has all the hunting relatives). I still have a lot left and would like to use it where ever I can. I have been reloading it in 7mm, 30.06 and .270

I'm guessing that we are talking 303 British and not 303 Savage. I'm also guessing that you are talking H4831 and not IMR4831 that you have.
H4831 is a bit slow for the 303 Brit, but will go bang when used. It will not give you top velocities, as you might already know. Data is hard to find as it's not a recommended powder for that caliber.

Here's a link to Reloadersnest site with a couple loads. Just click on the load ID.

NOTE: 4831 is a very slow burning powder and does not appear in reloading manuals for the .303 British. The Enfield rifles military ammunition was loaded with Cordite powder an early double base smokeless powder. Cordite powder was fast burning and contained nitroglycerin which gave the powder more horse power at the cost of higher burning temperature.

Bottom line, 4831 will not give the .303 bullet as big a kick in the backside and the fired bullet may not obturate and fill the bore on a Enfield rifle with a worn bore with cordite throat erosion. Meaning your accuracy may suffer with such a "SLOW" burning powder. As a side note during WWII .303 British ammunition loaded by the American company Winchester was loaded with the double base ball powder BL-C2 to give you the "modern" appropriate burning rate powder. ;)

Below, Serbian made Prvi Partizan is presently loaded with a double base ball powder with the same approximate burning rate as American made BL-C2 ball powder.
