With the Coronavirus reloading component shortage of 2020, I’ve found myself having to load 85 gr .30 Mauser/.30 Luger .308” bullets in my .30 Carbine cases. So far, I’ve had good results with a minimum H110 charge giving about 2200 FPS and no problems cycling the action. Accuracy is also pretty good out to about 100 yards with no sight adjustment between 110 gr bullets and these 85 gr bullets.
Now to my question. Can I expect that using these light bullets with a charge running about 26,000 CUP to extend my Brass life? I can tell that they don’t stretch my brass nearly as much as the 110 gr bullets do. Just wondering. I’ve loaded the same 50 pieces of brass two or three times with these bullets as a test, and I haven’t had to trim them except the initial trim to make them all uniform before I started.
