I've got a couple of loadmasters, they work fine for .38, .45 & 9mm, but when I'm running .40, the cases have started "tipping over" as they come out of the case feeder..

I ran probably at least 1500 through previously with only an occasional tipped case, but now it seems to be a chronic issue.. I've re-watched & re-set up the case feeder a few different times, tried loading different amounts of cases in the feeder.. just not sure what adjustment would affect "tipping", beyond the height of the feeder, which I have tinkered with quite a bit.

The base is extremely stable. I'm using the lee stand with two blocks and an extra loadmaster as ballast.. it doesnt move or jiggle as the handle is pulled..

Anyone else run into an issue like this before?

Dillon guys, please refrain from chortling with glee..

I have run into the same issue with 40 S&W cases when loading on my Pro1000, which uses the same case feed mechanism. Smooth and consistent operation of the handle was the key for getting mine to feed them properly without tipping over. I found that any jerky motions, particularly when lowering the ram, lead to more tipped cases. Focusing on smoothly raising and lowering the handle fixed it for me, YMMV.

Good luck, there are plenty of folks who love to bash Lee equipment, but somehow some of us have cranked out many thousands of excellent rounds using Lee progressive presses. I cranked out 800 rounds of 40 S&W yesterday on my Pro1000 in a little under 3 hours (including setup and clean-up).....don't see much reason to "upgrade" to a Dillon when that money could be spent on components or saving up for a new firearm!

I have experienced that problem but it has been so long since I ran that machine I can't recall the details or answers. I do remember that Lee does not address the size of 40directly and makes you settle for the slop in 45 caliber feeder tubes and case sliders. That's why 9mm and 45 work much better. I do recall this pretty much standard support address as having addressed the solution. I hope you find it, but at least bookmark this address.

I did not have a problem with tipping, but I did modify the "large" case feeder (which I use for .45 Colt) to feed the .40 cases. I adjusted the height of the feeder to feed the .40 cases, but then the large slider is too tall and tries to grab the bottom of the next case in the tube (which of course prevents anything from feeding).

I took a round file and some sandpaper and rounded over the top of the slider. The large case slider nicely handles the .40 cases, and the rounded top edge gently pushes the next case back up into the tube.
