I'm a snub 66 freak of the worst kind. I say that because I shoot them hard, it's what they were built for in my opinion. Pretty is good, but feels much better in my hand when letting loose with some stout magnums. I have a 66-2 just like that one, and a 66-5 that also gets the heck shot out of it. Both have had just about nothing but full house H110 handloads fed to them regularly, and they are still as tight as when I bought them. Got the 66-2 in 1985 for $150 with no signs of having been shot. And the 66-5 was just about as new to ammunition when I traded a POS Tec-9 five yrs. ago.

Now you sir are a man after my own heart.

I like to shoot them, I also want some for future generations to behold and have the opportunity to be thrilled with the pleasure of owning a new one.

Because that's just the kind of guy I am.

I was at the gun show about a year ago, and some guy was trying to sell a nice looking snubby 66 to a dealer. He wanted $350. Dealer said - no, it was a old gun. The dude said, well - I'll throw in some nice fancy grips. Dealer got the gun for $325. I was trying to yell- NOOOO - and leap across the table.

Didn't make it. I was sad.

When it comes to the 19 and 66 no dash through no lock 2.5 inch barrel the cats out of the bag. I have seen some beaters for $400 but that's it. I don't have any problem paying $600 for NIB or nearly so. Look at the new S&W prices and then look at these soon to be "classics" I think the prices will just keep going up over the next decade. Guess I am helping to drive that. If I find them I'm buying if everything is circumstantially right.

DAdams,

Very nice 66! I love the 66/19, and all K Frames in general. I own more .38 chambered K Frames than anything else.

I picked my 66-1 2 years ago for $430. It is mechanically flawless, if cosmetically challenged (worn stocks, some minor finish splotchiness). That's okay, it gets carried pretty regularly. The Tyler T makes a big difference in shootability if sticking with the small service stocks. Without them, I had busted, bleeding knuckles. Now even magnums don't feel too bad.
