Lock Rings

Awesome, I may have to order those. Will they [Hornady lock rings] be OK on the 550b ? I have a 550b and a 650 ?

The Hornady lock rings will be expensive and since they only have one set of "flats"... you will not be able to get a wrench on them without a lot of effort. And, as shown in the photo, the Hornady lock rings are thicker and can interfere with the Dillon dies.

I highly suggest you buy the Dillon 5-piece kit #10669 for 1" hex lock rings, and then go hunt up your own 1" box-end wrench.

Don't get me wrong. The Hornady lock rings are the ultimate choice for a single-stage press, where you need to remove the dies after each process step, but don't want to loose your die settings. However, on a Dillon 550 and 650 this is not the case. On a Dillon, you're leaving the dies locked in place and swapping the entire Tool Head.

I only have RCBS rings and put a #7.5 lead shot with each ring. I have not tried any others and am sure they will all work but i know the RCBS with lead shot work well.
That sounds like a good idea; never thought of that ...

I don't have any shot unless I take a part a shotgun shell...but have used a piece of wire insulation instead, stripped from a piece of scrape wire I had.
