That age old prob of the rear sight base screw coming loose with almost every clip-load of shots fired through the pistol.

And from what I've read even replacing those star washers doesn't necessarily do the trick so I'm thinking of loctiting that rear screw.

Have read of others doing this and I've always been a bit leery of loctiting a gun but this is getting ridiculous.

Have y'all tried this? Assume if you do you use the "blue 242" style "for parts that need to be disassembled with standard hand tools."

Thanx for the width,
b

Hey thanx y'all for your prompt and thoughtful responses.

So I take it you who've had success with the blue Loctite are then able when necessary for deeper cleaning to remove the loctite'd screw with just a screwdriver? Only go down this far into the gun three or four times a year--but I'd like to know I can do it without having to apply heat.

And thanks Evans for the Purple Loctite tip; never seen that grade here and will have to dig deeper.

Good advice mbobo about degreasing the screw hole with acetone.

Grateful to you,
b

Yes, you can remove fasteners held with blue with hand tools and no need for heat.

I always clean the holes with rubbing alcohol and q-tips, but guess acetone would work as good or better.

I had problems with my Buckmark giving me light primer strikes after firing several hundred rounds until I realized the screws were coming loose.

Blue LocTite fixed the problem, and it is designed to come loose with just hand tools.
