Because it's historically significant. Plus, it should be well made.
Why is it ok to collect Soviet memorabilia but not Nazi. A socialist government is a socialist government.
Stalin had more people slaughtered than Hitler did. As bad as Hitler was, Stalin was worse.
I've always wanted one of those SS daggers with the wide blade, that was a copy of a Swiss Dagger, just because it looked cool.
I don't support Nazism, but to ask why he would want that knife is the same as to ask why someone would want a Kar98 Mauser.

I collect ww2 militaria. I have many pieces of u.s gear and this fell into my lap for $20 and it is worth a minimum of 10x that.

I have a collection of WWII firearms and cutlery from Axes and Allied forces. Is a k98 or Arisaka somehow appropriate but an authentic FS or Hitler Youth knife different?

Decent condition, nice find man. Back when I collected knives, I had hoped to get one someday, but dropped the hobby before I ever did.

Yo Mamma, Since the beginning of organized warefare captured enemy weapons and flags have always been brought back as trophies. Some people collect them because of their historical signifigance. This is a normal part of the human condition.

Nice find. I'm starting a minor militaria collection. So far, I've got some shell casings, a defunct MP44 mag, an SS jacket, and a Vietnam era John Wayne Sparse boonie hat.

I have a Nazi Luftwaffe type 2 dagger that my Dad got after the war while he was in Germany. It was made by A. Gustav, Solingen. It has the hangers and that weird acorn bobble thing.

My Dad brought one of those back from Germany after WWII, and I remember playing with it as a kid. I broke the point off the blade while throwing it into a tree, and I think Dad threw it away after that.

I have no idea why the mods deleted my post, I see no reason not to be happy about owning a piece of history whether it's bad or good, it is a part of OUR history! A lot of good people have been killed with the 1911 but those posts are alowed to exist. I just don't understand some of THR's moderators.

Yes, I had it looked at by an expert and he said it is real. Its in rough shape but im happy to have it. Infact I may be purchasing another one in excellent condition for $100.

Please don't take this as a personal attack because it definitely isn't. Everyone should be free to collect anything legal they wish to.

But... had I all the money in the world I'd buy every Hitler youth knife I could find just to break off the blades and burn them.

You posted...

stand on that soap box Boyaaaa, nothin wrong wit-it
It looked non-sensical or a broken fragment of something -- like maybe you sat on your keyboard and posted by accident! (We get that sort of "whoopsie" from time to time and usually just delete them.)

When you type an entire thought it makes a little more sense...

Thanks Sam, I was just praising roccoracer for a nice find. Sorry Sam, I understand what you're saying.

I have one in my collection Dad brought back from WW2. It has a story that is part of his life. It will go to his grand kids with that story.

If this is the reason I understand. I wasn't trying to say there is no reason, but I was wondering what OP had in mind when they purchased.

When I was a kid, my dad would occasionally bring out a few items he brought back from Germany. They included an SS armband, a swastika flag off the front fender of a staff car, an anti-aircraft crew helmet, a '98 Mauser bayonet with a chrome blade and another item with Nazi proofmarks. When I was young, my favorite shows were Hogan's Heroes and the Rat Patrol, so I thought Dad's stuff was totally cool. Now, I keep them as somber reminders of what was, and what could be again if we fail to remember.

You know, if a US collector had some WWII Japanese militaria, no-one would think they automatically hated Chinese.
