Hey guys have lost a link somewhere and can't remember the name of the company/business involved so as to do a search.

what i am looking for is the site of a gentleman who builds/rebuilds Garands and Semi-only M-14s, from somewhere in texas.

reason being that i am seriously thinking of making my next rifle purchase an example of the M-14/-1A family and i'm exploring my options.
I'm not sure that the SA M-1A is worth the price tag and off the top of my head the only other "known name" thats coming to me, that builds them is fulton and I WON'T be doing business with them..!

so any an all input on the subjects of who that third builder is and what his website might be, and/or other options open to me to accquire a decent quality "service grade" M-14 type rifle would be sincerely appreciated.

thank you

Sorry, can't help.

However, I have thought about dealing with Fulton.
What is your input on them? I see that you don't like them and would like to have some background before I drop $$ with them.

Thanks!

These the folks you looking for?

There are other alternatives to Fulton. Two big names I've talked to are Ron Smith of Smith Enterprise and Ted Brown of Shooter's Den. And certainly there are others that do first-class work as well.

Yep that's them.... thanks :)

speak up on the other folks you mentioned. i'm fairly familiar with Smith, but last time i looked (graned a few months ago) they didn't list complete rifles amoung what was available. just parts and upgrade work. they back to putting out their own complete sticks again?

haven't heard of the other guy, but am definately interested.

I own a Fulton Armory M14, fantastic rifle. I highly recomend them. The only draw back with them is the wait time, they can be 6-9 months sone times.

Josh,

i will not buy from fulton, this is an absolute. the reasons for this have been hashed out on these boards a dozen or more times, and i won't rehash them here (wasn't the point of this thread).

not to mention that a service grade Fulton is $6-700 more "out of the gate" than one from West Texas Ordnance, and built on the same receiver. an armscorp receiver is an armscorp receiver i don't care WHOSE name is stamped on the back.

if your fulton made M14 is a great rifle i'm happy for you. but for me fulton is Just not an option.

if you want a forged reciever and build a rifle from that i would reccoment an LRB barreled action it comes with a bolt headspaced , get the rest of the parts and you can send it to a smith to put it together or do it yourself. i have a springfield m1a and a LRb forged receiver that i am putting together. the LRB is a true mil spec receiver not like the Springfield which is cast and aftermarket scope mounts dont fit them since they are not USGI spec. there are a couple other makers of m14 type receivers but i reccomend the LRB.

I think Ted Brown does build complete rifles. Last time I talked to him he said he had ordered some LRB receivers, so you may be in luck. Check your PM.
