A while back I posted a question about a Colt New Agent that I was going to pick up for $400.00. (And I did :) ) I got a LOT of great feed back, now I am looking at A used P226 9MM for the same cop friend, I can pick it up for $300.00 bucks. It is an older Sig with the old style grips without the SIG logo on them but comes with 3 15 rnd mags. The serial number is U something so I can't date it. For $300.00 it seems to be a good deal, what do you all think?

Thanks in advance for any feed back.

$300? If you don't buy it, let me know and I'll take it sight unseen.

Seriously, buy that.

Horrible deal.. you should give me this "Friends" contact information .. such that I can tell him so. Seriously though .. that't an excellent price, the 3 mags alone (brand new ) sell for 30+ dollars each .. so do the math . I'd jump on it.

Solid price for a used P226 depending on condition. It is about $150 under market value but more than likely about what he paid for it if it was his old duty weapon.

If it is an older German gun it will have proof marks on the underside of the front of the slide. It will also have a 2 letter date code. The U does not date the pistol but does indicate it might have been made in Germany. U serial numbers go up to 2009. After 2009 you see P226s have a UU serial numbers and all "uu" serial # were made here in the US.

This thread can help you date the pistol if it does not have the proof marks.

Thanks for the feed back! I figured it was a great deal just like the New Agent he sold me for $400.00. It is in great shape no real holster wear I do think the night sights are not as bright as they used to be but oh well.

It has one U and a series of numbers (it is at home and i'm not)

Condition and grip wise it looks like this one

It came in a yellow cardboard red felt lined Sig Saur P226 box, old school.

Buy it... not as good a deal as the New agent but its worth $550+ easily. You can have the night sights re-lamped for about $50 IIRC.

Yellow box and old grips = W. German gun.

DO NOT BUY THAT SIG P226 for $300.

It's a rotten deal.

Give me that gent's phone number, and I'll call him up and take that gun out of circulation as a service to the public. ;)

I hope you've already said yes. I like the p226 so much I found a beater (albeit a tested and reliable one) for my truck. My beater what more than $300 though, and people were jealous of the deal I got. Good find!

buy it. got mine as a police trade in for 350. best gun in my safe.
