Looking for a 1911 with special requirements...

So an update
My budget increased substantially due to selling a motorcycle. I have fiddled with ed browns, nighthawks and Wilson combats, but they all feel (puts on flame suit) imo like dan wessons at 2x to 3x the price.

But now im interested in chambers customs, accuracy X, the new cabot nero, a korth prs and still intoxicated by a les baer. We will see what answers i get in emails I've sent.

Nice thing is, is if I get a les baer (monolith heavy is at the top of my want list) I can afford another 1911 thats more tactical oriented for all my silly ideas. But ill never have another chance to drop this kind on cash on a gun, so im really considering a custom piece from the other builders.

Does anyone here own a chambers or accuracy x, or cabot that would like to chime in?

Also consider a CZ Czeckmate in .40.

Dan Wesson Specialist is around $1800. The LB monolith is a great idea as well.

Get a Ed Brown sear jig and a spare sear and hammer to tinker with. No idea if you want a nice light crisp trigger, or a nice light mushy trigger? A mushy trigger is more accurate IME. But ruining a DW or LB trigger is silly, don't. Ruin some spare parts instead.

My ''bullseye'' 1911 is a rusty old Kimber soaked in spray paint with an extra mushy trigger break. You really don't need a very good 1911 for such. Just one that locks up consistently.

Really bullseye competition will be about 25% of its shooting, the other 75% will be stupid long shots for fun.

I don’t know if this guy is still building pistols or not but here’s the man when it comes to top of the heap.

He may be great at pistol building and holster making, but man, he gets clobbered in the customer service/delivery times/returned calls/where's my money/etc. category on the forums.

Especially if you might later fit an optic, Accuracy X has a great new mounting system

With your expanded budget, I'd get
1. Whichever Dan Wesson you are most drawn to
2. Have the barrel refitted and trigger tuned
3. Have Stan Chen's magwell fitted...Gen 2 if you can afford it, SI if you want to spend a bit least and don't mind the extra height

I know of nothing the fits your requirements.
Is there an STI that does?

Just have someone custom build it. You have the funds. Give them your requirements.

Im looking for a 1911 but I have some non traditional needs. It will be used for bullseye shooting and I'm an absolute trigger/reset snob, so I'm in the market for a great 1911 with a wonderful trigger.
Requirements:
Under $2500 all in.
Bottom rail (love reddots, hate them slide mounted)
A fantastic light trigger with a very light reset.
Would like for it to have an accuracy guarantee.

So far I'm drawn towards an sti, although I'm not after the doublestack capacity. Their race guns have wonderful triggers. Im also eyeing dan wessons and les baers. Help!
I think you will have trouble getting a new gun with the specs you want for under $2500, especially if you want a red dot. If you are competing I can highly recommend the STI Staccato XL. No red dot (I don't like them) but a the nicest 2.5# trigger you will ever squeeze.

It is a double stack but, most matches I'mm shooting these days favor high capacity or you are going to loose a lot of time on mag changes.

I would highly recommend getting some trigger time (a lot) on a red dot before spending the cash for a gun that is milled for one and then the cash for the sight itself. Some people obviously love them but I could never get good with one no matter how much I practiced. I much prefer the fiber optic on the STI's. It is just brilliant out doors in the sun or clouds. Very fast acquisition.

I carry a single stack 1911 but, that is a whole different story.

Update:

Pretty much set on going with an accuracy x. Going to iron out options and details.

I'll chime in despite never having even shot a Chamber, Accuracy X or Cabot. I've owned Les Baers, Wilsons and Ed Browns and I particularly like the EBs ... Korth? Seriously? Only for folks who have more money than common sense. I own some Dan Wessons, but frankly, have a couple Springfield Armory 1911s that are better (IMO). Go for the STI if you enjoy that big-ass billboard on both sides of the slide (did someone say "tacky?")

Don't get sucked in by the names.

Ive always wanted a korth revolver, the few I have shot were incredible. Im always only 1k away from having more money than brains.

For that money you could always buy the parts and tune them yourself. Would take awhile even if you have an idea of what you are doing. The other option is already where you are thinking, have a custom shop like D&L build you a 1911 to fit your needs.

The poster is a serious bullseye shooter and is quick to point out the requirements and the failings of "more accurate than I am" and "one ragged hole at 10 yards."

He also says: "If you want a major improvement you'll probably need to step up to a semi-custom from Rock River Arms/Accuracy-X/Springfield Custom/etc. or a full custom by a Bullseye Gunsmith (David Sams, Jon Eullete, Joe Chambers, Greg Derr, KC Crawford, Jon Shue, Sandy Garret, etc.)"
