Close to hell that is, when I was getting my CZ75B, I first had to make an exam (knowledge of law), then I had to be medically examined (eyes, mental etc), then I had to wait a month (can delay up to 3 months), and all that after applying in PD, then after buying the gun (at cheap 850 USD) I had to register it. All the processes cost another 300 USD. Just one handgun.
If I'd like to have more than 1 gun then I'd have to buy a safe and keep all the guns UNLOADED with bullets in separate locked compartment (as by the law), when carrying then the chamber must be empty (autos) and gun out of sight.
El Cheapo Saiga chambered to 7.62 costs "only" 700 USD, better brands are more than that, Sauers are around 2000 USD and up.
AND if I want to buy a rifle with greater calibre than .22LR I must have a hunter's licence. .22LR rifle can be owned for sporting and hunting use and are not viable for self defence. Smoothbores are for hunting also and shotgun for home defence. And if I do want to buy rifle the all examing and applying process must be done again, even if I already have a handgun.
Walther's G22 I was once considering costs 600 USD. More than Rem 700 SPS in USA. dangit.
As
Unarmed Shooter said in other topic - I must get outta here, hell I must get off this F-ing continent.
Other happy moments, once a guy saw a woman being attacked and her purse snathced, so he stepped up and confronted the BG, the BG resisted and got shot, same time a security run outside the mall (in front of what all happened) and attacked the FRIENDLY GUY and grabbed his gun hand and eventually got shot in the belly (and later admitted that he tried to help the thief). So our guy got convicted, lost his house and wife and was put into bancrupcy (as the security guy charged him) and considers suicide (the security also hurt his neck so he has some nerve damage).
Secondly, ex-gov-secretary was out hunting (drunk) and shot the other hunter (who was wearing red safety jacket), the sec saw something wobble in bushes and shot. The other guy was hit in both legs with bones smashed. Outcome? victim has no claims to the sec, investigations are shallow, no expertise on alcohol was not made and eventually the guy gets off clean.
F this, I'm outta here eventually.
