Looking for a compact 40, best bets

Take a look at the new Walther PPQ in .40. It is about the same size as a Glock 19. It has the best trigger of all polymer framed pistols.

I've been looking at the Springfield xd 40 compact, the ruger src40, and the glock compact 40

I owned the Glock 27, it was okay, it never fit my hand right even with changing backstraps and it jammed when limp wristing. (I want any self defense gun to perform no matter what so it mattered to me)

I sold the Glock for an XD40 subcompact and couldn't be happier! Never a malfunction with any ammo, limp wristing or not. I can shoot it faster and more accurately.

I know that my experience is anecdotal and your experience might be different but it's my 2 cents.

Second on the PPQ, but it isn't a compact.

Smaller yet in a single stack .40 is the Walther PPS. Then also there is the Kahr PM40 or CW.

I just got a G23 Gen4 for my birthday, as I was looking for a carry peice also. I also have an XDm 9mm9mm and an XD45 Tactical, both full size, so not very carry-able. I tried carrying the 9r for a while, but 20 rounds of o get heavy on the hip after a while. I have always been interested in the Glock line, and finally bought myself one. What can I say I keep it with me every day now. Only have about 300half round through it so far (last range day it was 25 deg F, so not a lot of time spent) I will be upgrading the trigger on the glock, and I already have a Powder River Precision kit in the XDm 9. It made a nuge difference, much better trigger now, even though it wasn't really that bad to begin with. Anyway, so far I am very happy with my G23 purchase for EDC in. 40. I might have the SA EMP. 40, but I couldn't justify the cost on that one. Happy gun shopping!! (My favorite kind)

Be sure not to overlook the pt140pro. Great capacity, small package, SA/DA decockable, accurate, and affordable, so you can take the rest of that money and buy more ammo. All the features in the world on the best gun ever wont make up for lack of use with your carry gun when the time comes that you need to know it inside and out.

Walther PPS! Have both the .40 and the 9...maybe I'm not that sensitive to recoil but I swear the .40 has no more of it than the 9....

I also have a Kahr CM9 that I like...and they are coming out with a .40..hmmmm

Another vote for G27 - I use mine with Pearce +1 mag base extension for 3-finger grip and 40-9 conversion barrel for 9mm practice.
