I'm looking for someone to make me a set of 1911 grips (govt size) out of a piece of Damascus steel I've got. I bought it thinking it would be a fun project for myself, but I don't really have the right tooling and would inevitably just end up with some scrap Damascus in the end.
My guess is that the time involved to shape the grips by a skilled craftsman will be more than I can afford at the moment. But I've had this material for a while now and figure I might as well ask. There's plenty of material for two scales, but unfortunately the leftover material wouldn't be enough for anything other than accent/trim stuff-not much to offer there. If anyone is interested in tackling this project, or has any leads, I'd love to hear from you.
