I've got this pistol in my hands currently, which needs a new firing pin, but I keep striking out with my regular suppliers.

Bought a current version hoping it would be similar, but no dice, the design change was not subtle at all.

Brownells struck out on the old (and now apparently discontinued) version, as did Numeric, Midway, and a dozen other more obscure places.

I've got a call in to S&W directly, but since they won't even answer their damned phones anymore, there's no telling when (or even if) they'll call me back. And since it's been discontinued, I'm guessing it's not going to be something they'll have in stock anyway.

So, here I am, appealing to the part hoarders of the world, in the hopes that someone has a spare firing pin for a pre-2002 S&W 617-4 that they'd be willing to part with.

I can probably fabricate a new one if it comes to that, but I hate to spend 12 hrs or more on the machines cutting one from scratch when a new one doesn't cost more than $15-$20.

It's just a matter of finding one to buy.

I can post pictures if anyone needs reference, but that will have to wait until tomorrow evening.

    Thank you for your time.

Try S&W again. I have had good luck getting the parts I wanted from them.
