I've seen the Garands at the National Match Armory, and they sure look fine. I've also seen the Springfield Armory and Fulton Armory Garands. I'm looking for a match grade rifle, not necessarily a super match grade. I will shoot with the iron sights and possibly upgrade to optical. I'm not up for buying a CMP unit

Can anyone provide onfo on these three rebuilders and possibly some details on their products.

I haven't shot one but i've handled a few and I think I would rather buy a CMP gun over a springfield or fulton simply because of the large difference in the price. But if you are willing to spend that kind of money I think I would go with the fulton armory.. their stuff seems more geared toward match accuracy and springfield seems more intent on simply putting out a current production Garand with modern materials and manufacturing, which I respect.

May I suggest buying the cheapest M-1 with a stock from the CMP and send it off to Roland Beaver in Bald Knob AR. It would be gone for awhile but you would have about the same money in a rifle which would out shoot the others. (Except maybe a McCoy) Roland tuned a post war Springer up for me in 308 and the thing is a tack driver. Roland will send you a "package" with photos of rifles he's done in his stocks and price list. I spent about $800.00 on mine. My 308 M-1 sports a heavy barrel and one of Rolands heavy laminated green stocks with the gas system, trigger and sights tuned up. Even the women commen how pretty it is. Course to us guys it's just "pretty neat".

Still, it won't out shoot my WOP AR.

"...buying the cheapest M-1 with a stock from the CMP and send it off..." Or just a CMP receiver and send it off to have a match rifle built. SA Inc receivers don't have a great reputation and Fulton's finished rebuilt rifles are very, very expensive. Mind you, no match quality rifle will be cheap. A good match grade barrel alone can cost you more than a whole CMP rifle.

Check this thread. Poster put up picks of his M1 that he got restored.

These guys restore M1's. There are a lot of different options for barrels and wood. This might be a better alternative to Fulton or SA with a better result. Maybe ocabj or another poster can give you a feel for accuracy.

The High Road's forum discussions certainly are popping up on Yahoo a lot. Everytime I do a gun related search, I end up with at least one link back to this site.
