Looking for a good Exercise/Fitness CCW Solution

I really don't want to change the direction of your thread 300Whspr, and I know your situation might be entirely different where you live, but our biggest worry on our exercise walks around here are large, and very territorial farm dogs. For that threat, I carry a great big, intimidating, hiking staff (which also adds to the "exercise" part of the walk) as well as pepper spray. I've never had to use the pepper spray. Just banging that hiking staff on the road shows those dogs what they're going to get if they come too close. So they stay back, out of range, and growl as we walk by.
That said, I'm also carrying a concealed .38 snubby (my regular carry piece) in a DeSantis pancake style holster. That's how I carry it everyday, and as others have already said, I see no reason to change into sweats or other jogging clothes for just walking. As a matter of fact, for a few weeks before hunting season, I wear my 8" hunting boots on my walks.
But I see you've already ordered a couple of those belly bands for you and your wife. I hope they work out for you. I wish I'd have thought of those (if they even had them) back in '95 when I was training for a Denali climb. I was jogging 7 miles a day then, and I never did find a comfortable way to carry my gun while wearing jogging shorts or sweats. My big ol' "Buford Pusser" hiking staff still kept the dogs at bay though.:)

Guys, I've tried walking in jeans, LOL. If I keep doing that, you all better buy stock in Gold Bond because they'd be selling more of it ;).

When we walk, it's not just a leisurely stroll, let me tell you... at least it's not for me. We're doing a mile in a little over 16 minutes. Which is pretty fast for this 'ol fat boy! Hoping to get faster as the pounds come off. Right now our normal "route" is about 2.5 miles, and we're about to up it to over 3 miles. We walk along the road that runs past our house.

And, like I said, the prison is about 10 miles down the road the other way... so better safe than sorry. Not too worried about dogs.

I am a runner and have run as far as 10 miles with my P32 clipped (with the KelTec slide clip) into my Underarmor (and those under regular jogging shorts). They have never caused me any discomfort, and have not rusted so far.

I have a smartcarry holster which I wear when I don't have a belt to carry a IWB holster. I've used it many times under shorts with no shirt sweatpants and even a swimsuit and nobody knows your carrying. also vs a bellyband its much thinner and you don't sweat so much . I've had mine well over 10 years and it's very comfortable to wear. my wife uses one too.

Back when I was running about 3 miles a day for workouts, I carried a NAA Mini in .22mag in a workout belt (for keys and whatnot) I got for $20 at Walmart. The gun was light and small enough to not need a dedicated gun holster. The belt was underneath my shirt and above my running shorts in a slight cross draw position.

They are elastic bands that have multiple retention for a pistol, mags, and ID which uses velcro to adjust. I've used belly bands for jogging before and it works well. For light running or walking, it should be perfect. They cost like $15-20 online.

I use this product on training runs. 12 mile slow distance runs, 1/2 mile intervals at a 6:00 mile pace, track sprints, trail runs that include fording streams and going under or over fallen logs. It's been a great purchase and if it works for my purposes, taking it on walks will be a... walk in the park.

I use a Glock 43 with mine. Tried a Glock 19 and it was okay for the first 7 miles then got slightly uncomfortable on the hip. I wear the gun at 12:30/1 o'clock.

As much as I hate to admit this I've started wearing a fanny pack when I jog. It let's me wear comfortable athletic gear (anything I want really) and still carry my wallet, keys, phone, and gun. I wear the pack in front under my gut, rather in the rear over my fanny. It is very common to see others wearing packs the same way along the route I jog.

The pack I use has two zippered pockets. I carry a Kahr P380 in a kydex trigger holster in one of the pockets. I attach the trigger holster to the key loop sewn into the pocket. With one hand I can unzip the pocket, get a good grip on the gun, and sharply pull the gun free to a high ready position. Drawing the gun isn't lightening fast, but I practice quite a bit. Like anything else you'll be surprised what you can do with some practice.

I originally tried this with a Sig P938, but I found that the 22oz of loaded weight bounced around too much. The Kahr P380 is under 14oz loaded and stays tight to my body with the fanny pack straps snugged tight.

If you can get over the fact that your wearing a fanny pack this might be a good solution for you as well. If you're walking rather than jogging you won't have to worry as much about the weight bouncing, and can probably carry a much bigger gun.

Why not just open carry?

It is legal in Missouri and easier to carry a larger handguns.

You are getting good advice but you just don't want to accept it.

I don't know want having a prison 10 miles down the road has to do with personal security but if you are concerned with dealing with a escaped convict you are going to need a lot of gun. Just image a 6', 200 lb. escaped convict who has spent several hours a day every day for several years in the weight pit pumping iron.

I don't know why you are determined to wear jogging pants when a pair of loose fitting men's shorts and a good belt with let you carry a larger, more powerful handgun.

If you are really determined to shed weight while getting in shape take up horse back riding. You will see results much faster and you carry your handgun attached to the saddle.

I ran plenty of miles with a Glock 26 in a smartcarry. Sometimes downsized to a Smith 642. The difference in sweating is big, the belly band covers a much higher surface area of your skin, and what the smartcarry covers is mostly covered close by clothes to begin with anyway

As an aside, I'm surprised to find that my occasionally pocket carried 1st gen LCP has developed a couple of tiny rust spots on the slide. It has never gotten wet, and I carried a Glock for years every day as a service gun in both IWB and OWB and it has never shown a speck of rust.

Carrying one while doing exercise, possibly sweaty, I'd certainly keep a close eye on it. Very possibly several will chime in as to how their LCP has never rusted, this is just my experience.

Kudos for you for making the decision to get in shape.

If you must rule out some sort of a belt holster, I would look at either a belly band or fanny pack designed for carry. I've hiked in the woods with one of these http://www.skdtac.com/HawkePaks-Micro-GunPak-p/hkp.501.htm carrying a G19 and it works well, as long as you don't mind the look. You can carry as big of a gun as you want with either of those methods.

Different people have different chemistry. You may happen to be one of those who's sweat could eat the chrome off of a trailer hitch. My wife is one as well. Hit the spots with Kroll or oil and steel wool it off. The issue is that now you have a vulnerable spot in the finish. It will want to rust there every time from now on.

I suspect you will just need to ensure you remove it from the holster and clean it, or at least wipe it down more often.

I find that Eezox works well for me on my carry guns. Spray or wipe it on, let it sit for an hour or two then wipe it off. I do that about every 2 weeks during the winter and more frequently during the summer (as my sweating situation dictates). The other concern is if you are carrying in a holster that will absorb moisture (either leather or fabric of some type) once it gets saturated with sweat, now it is permanently "salty". It does not need much dampness from that point forward to begin to pit or corrode your gun. Even a humid day will get it going.

I carry it in a kydex pocket holster, and use Eezox. Again, just my situation, though I don't generally have a problem with rust from my fingerprints or sweat. I'm thinking the finish Glock used on mine, Tenifer, is a more rust resistant one. I believe they've used other finishes since.

Ruger LCP. I use a belt clip, pocket carry, no holster (nothing else in the same pocket, ever). Have been doing so for 15 some years since P3AT's first came out. Carry in the pocket of my PT shorts, even sweat pants, or front pocket of hoodie. Doesn't drag my shorts/sweats down, not even in the scrubs I wear to work every day. Heck, got in a PJ pants right now and they aren't pulling down. Very effective and safe way to carry.

Agree with the idea that a fanny pack might be perfect. Or you could consider one of the holster undershirts made by 5.11 and Cabelas.
