I plan to use a S&K mount for my K98 in order to avoid tapping and drilling my rifle or making modifications to the stock.

I have been looking at a few different scopes, my budget pretty much tops out at +/- 150
I would like to purchase from a manufacturer with a great warranty and customer service, as this scope is going to take some abuse with 8x57 and how much I love to shoot that rifle.

I have looked at the Leatherwood/Hilux 2-7x32 and the NCstar illuminated 2-7x32
The Hilux seems to have slightly better reviews, but most people with negative reviews are saying the customer service is non existent and they do not return emails or calls.
The NCstar comes with a lifetime warranty and is significantly cheaper, not to mention Walmart offers a 2 yr care plan for 4 dollars.

Any scopes I should be on the lookout for, and any advice regarding my situation?

Thank you,

I'd steer clear of the new but cheap stuff.
I have seen used Leupold 2x and 4X EER scopes around $150.
Common at $200 (fantastic warranty, even if not the original owner).

If wanting to save $ from the get go, look for a TC pistol scope.
They've gone up a bunch IMHO, but still can be had for around $100 in super shape (2.5X non rail mount).

I looked for 10 months but got a 2.5-7X TC pistol scope with barely visible ring marks, delivered to my door for $130.

You very well may need to look in the used market to find something suitable in your price range. About the only new scope even close is the weaver 4x at about 200. I used one shortly on a friends Marlin and found the eye box finicky but usable. Nikon makes a 2x at $190 called the Force. Never seen one or used one. Advertised as lifetime warranty and shockproof. But for the same price I would rather have one of the Leupold M8's available on the various auction sites.

I set up some scout rigs using BSA 2X pistol scopes. They worked fine and cost less than 60 bucks. A couple of used Bushnell 2X's turned out fabulous. A used Luepold was terrible but easy to sell off. I prefer 2-3X fixed power. You can often find used pistol scopes at places that trade guns and gun shows.

I would say you're on the right track with the Leatherwood. Not only will it be a quality scope for the price, aesthetically I think it would look better on K98 than a lot of the other options out there.
