That's just inflation, if I wanted a sub par caliber why not go for a ppk in 32. There are millions of them around also. There is no advantage to having a Mak. It's a free country so you may of course exercise your freedom of choice, I just het to put your life on the line for a cult followin gun that is not up to snuff. The same thing happened to all guns, they went up, the good the bad and the ugly, not a good enough reason to get a ballistically inferior weapon, if that's you carry.
