Looking for a mini 9

To expand on Zundfolge's list.. in the "Money no object" or "Money not too much of an object" categories I'd prefer just about any of the Mini 9mm 1911 variants. I personally hate DAO triggers so I wouldn't choose anything off that list, but that's obviously a personal preference. While I'm not a huge fan of Kimber overall, I've often looked at the Aegis II Ultra model and thought.. this is one perfect carry mini 9mm. The Springfield EMP or Para Carry 9 or PDA guns also fit into that same category.

Also , I guess it all depends on your definition of "mini" . The subcompact models of so many guns ( glock, XD, so on and so on ) could fit that bill.

I really like my Springfield XD9 subcompact with 13 round flush mags. And; its not a double action!

My two small 9mms are the Kahr and the Springfield EMP...a little bigger and heavier is my H&K P7.

I'm also looking forward to the Sig 290

I carry the PF-9 all day (except at work for the three days I'm there; not permitted.) On my days off, it's on me 10-18 hours at a time, and I don't feel it at all. I carry it in an IWB holster, but it's worn between the belt and pants, not inside the pants. I had started carrying IWB, and originally with a Bersa Thunder, but switched to the inside-the-belt (ITB) carry for comfort reasons. I'm happy with the PF-9 (I am with the bigger Bersa, too, but had just happened to come across the PF-9 and couldn't pass it up for the price.)

Glock 26

Front night sight/standard rear

Hogue grip, trimmed to fit

GAP mag floorplate extension

F.I.S.T. Ultra Thin Kydex IWB holster

Hard to beat the EMP if you like 1911's.

My tiny 9mm is a Glock 17, it goes IWB. With the right holster (Blade Tech IWB for me) it is comfortable enough to take a nap on the couch while carrying.

My wife carries a Kahr CW9. It was $400 new and has been great for her.

I like my Keltec P11 with a belt clip. 10 rounds of 9mm and about 1in thick. Too big for your pocket but nice IWB.

i gave it tons of thought and im going with a blackened kahr pm9 with CT and night sights, in a horsehide crossbreed mini tuck with the combat cut.
thats the road im taking.

Would you do the same thing if the Sig was on the shelf tomorrow and had a shelf price of $450 which i think it will have? MSRP is $530-$550 so i don't think ill be off to far.

Not a mini, but one more vote (with my own wallet) for the slimline 3rd-gen S&Ws. Mine's a 3953 with old-school IWB leather. Patient shopping will likely yield a gem on the used market.

JMO.

bastage, also remember to go in person and handle the different handguns. Sometimes you can read many good things about a gun, read all of the review and specs...but trying it out in person is dissatisfying. And vice versa. So I'd choose a day to go to a decent gun store and handle them all. Soak in how they feel and how you like the controls. Even though you likely can't shoot them all (if any), sometimes feel is a make-or-break component. I loved the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 until I handled it in person; really disliked the laser and trigger. The opposite was true for the SIG P238; didn't care for the design on the computer screen. Loved it in person.

My pick is the (unfortunately now discontinued) Smith Model 6906. A little thick around the middle for those with smaller hands but the extra rounds afforded by a double-stack magazine would be much appreciated in a gun fight and the pistol is relatively light-weight, affordable, compact and, most importantly, as reliable as water headed for downstream.

I know it's not considered a mini but the smallest 9 I have is a Sig P6 and it's a great shooter and a keeper. It makes a nice CCW.

Oh, please don't forget, the smaller and lighter a gun, the heavier and more powerful the round, the more it will kick.
