my first thought was for a nice colt 1903. concealable, reliable, and they have very nice lines.

also a walther ppk with some tasteful engraving would be an excellent choice.

I just don't get the mindset involved in asking the question. Its not about fashion its about selfdefense.

Can you honestly say that you carry the one gun that is absolutely the best gun for self defense? Did you really choose your gun based on the ability to land hits on target in that were of a caliber and bullet deemed better than all others?

No, it really isn't just about self defense. If it was, we would all be carrying much better guns and calibers, ideally with giant capacities. There are other criteria for a defensive gun. The OP is just looking for a novelty version that will meet those criteria for his needs. What is the harm in that?

I am another to suggest a P7. Groovey sexy little carry gun, shoot well, and are reliable. Also can be picked up cheap enough so you don't feel like me when I carry the 2.5in Royal Blued Python. You can also get them in a varsity of finishes.

For me and added in ease of carry and ability to conceal it, then yes. I don't care what it looks like, its concealed, until its not and then I care how it shoots. I'm not making a fashion statement.

Eh. Pretty much anything in a marginal caliber or more that functions reliably will probably suit you fine. I know, I'm a dumbass who carries extra mags and all, but looking at the stats, 3-4 shots is all you're going to fire (at most) in a self defense situation, and what's going to matter is where you hit them.

How 'bout a wheelgun? This one's a little bit different...

John, no one here is saying they are trying to make a fashion statement. Personally, any gun I would carry will be one I can not only shoot very well, but that I know is defect free function wise. Then I will pick which to carry based on looks and prestige. I have carried everything from a WWII PPK, to a 2.5in Blue Python in perfect condition, to many high end 1911's and they are are able to fit all needs for a carry gun and be nice to carry. Shoot, after training with a Rhino or P7 I would carry them as well

BTW, for all that do not normally carry an extra mag, it's not just about the extra rounds. People have discovered that they accidentally dropped the mag in the gun (sometimes the mag release gets bumped, etc), or a magazine fails for some reason. Having a backup translates into a 1-2 second repair or recovery.

Way back in 1974 I carried a High Standard Griswold and Gunnison .36 in my boot while riding a Kawasaki 500. Both are gone today.
But I wasn't 21 and could not get hold of a center fire handgun.
Next came a M28 4 inch S&W.
You may want to look at the P35 Radom 9mm
Colt SAA 4 3/4 inch 45 LC

I stated the P7 based off the definition of "novelty" as unusual. I felt the squeeze cocker qualified as such from a design perspective. I was basing the suggestion off of something that is to be used as a CCW. So in order for that to be the case it needs to be reliable, a proven design and track record, with decent availability of parts. I own a PSP and they are great pistols... I wasn't trying to offend or anything.

not sure what you meant by "novelty gun" but i'll tell you that as cool as the p7 is, the manual of arms is pretty unique.

unless i trained with only the p7 (so it became second nature) i would not feel confident that i could operate it well under stress. that is in fact why i sold mine--i couldn't practice enough with that gun since after ~50 rounds the gun got too hot to hold

With that attitude, we'd all wear tighty whities all the time. I mean, they're functional and concealed, right?

And why buy the V-8 powered Camaro or Mustang when you could get the V6 model. I mean the V6 is perfectly fuctional right? It will cetainly reach all posted speed limits. You can't see the engine under the hood, anyway.

Because this is America, and if I can buy something that both meets my needs and suits my personal preferences/desires, why not?

Could go with a Sig P238 with the rainbow titanium finish, it's certainly eye-catching.

Because a V8 will outperform the V6. Which has nothing to do with the OPs question and pertains nothing to the discussion. If anything its my point. I'm saying go for performance not rarity, not to be fashionable.

Yes, I can. I based my choice in a carry gun purely on it's ability to stop a threat as efficiently as possible while still maintaining the ability to be comfortably carried and concealed all day long. I quit buying guns on the emotional cool factor some time ago.

Yes it is just about self defense, anyone who carries for reasons other than that should seriously reconsider carrying at all.

How about a Colt 1903/1908 hammerless. This one belonged to my Great Grand Father. It was made in 1921 I think. It's a .380 but most were .32 from what little I've researched. Lots of these were carried by military, law enforcement and private folks.

By the way, I'm looking for a new barrel if anyone knows where to get one.
