I just don't get the mindset involved in asking the question. Its not about fashion its about selfdefense.

For me and added in ease of carry and ability to conceal it, then yes. I don't care what it looks like, its concealed, until its not and then I care how it shoots. I'm not making a fashion statement. Can you honestly say that you carry the one gun that is absolutely the best gun for self defense? Did you really choose your gun based on the ability to land hits on target in that were of a caliber and bullet deemed better than all others?
No, it really isn't just about self defense. If it was, we would all be carrying much better guns and calibers, ideally with giant capacities. There are other criteria for a defensive gun. The OP is just looking for a novelty version that will meet those criteria for his needs. What is the harm in that?

So another vote for the Chiappa Rhino previously mentioned in posts 5, 6, and 49?How 'bout a wheelgun? This one's a little bit different...
I stated the P7 based off the definition of "novelty" as unusual. I felt the squeeze cocker qualified as such from a design perspective. I was basing the suggestion off of something that is to be used as a CCW. So in order for that to be the case it needs to be reliable, a proven design and track record, with decent availability of parts. I own a PSP and they are great pistols... I wasn't trying to offend or anything.

my first thought was for a nice colt 1903. concealable, reliable, and they have very nice lines
Because a V8 will outperform the V6. Which has nothing to do with the OPs question and pertains nothing to the discussion. If anything its my point. I'm saying go for performance not rarity, not to be fashionable. With that attitude, we'd all wear tighty whities all the time. I mean, they're functional and concealed, right?
And why buy the V-8 powered Camaro or Mustang when you could get the V6 model. I mean the V6 is perfectly fuctional right? It will cetainly reach all posted speed limits. You can't see the engine under the hood, anyway.
Because this is America, and if I can buy something that both meets my needs and suits my personal preferences/desires, why not?
