Looking for a Range in TX around Killeen

Hello fellow gun enthusiasts,

iam doing sportshooting in germany and my favourite weapon is the AR15 from which i own two german made "Oberland Arms" ARs since its hard to get those nice US Made ARs exported to germany.

I will be visiting the United States in the coming March (Las Vegas NV/Killeen TX/Washington DC/New York) and really would like to shoot some weapons which iam not allowed to shoot in germany as a sportshooter due to our very restrictive weapons law. I was thinking of full auto in .223 Rem and i really would like to shoot a .50 BMG rifle at the approriate ranges. I usually get to shoot up to 300m max here in germany.

So what iam looking for is information about what iam actually allowed to do as a non US Citizen and where i could go to a range and rent some of the above mentioned guns. I would prefer a range around Killeen TX.

Wow! That's not going to be easy unless you just luck out and meet the right person. There are a lot of ranches in the Kileen area that could accomodate you but , you have to have an " in " to get started.

I would say to google gun clubs in the area and try to make some contacts. Not just everyone has a 50 bmg and most of those that do are not going to have access to a 1000 yard range. And vice versa. Also a full auto AR15 is class III and is hard to find legal owners that will rent out.

I know what you are looking for exists but , I think it will be a quest.

If I happen to be at my in-laws ranch when you're in town, we could shoot there. It's close enough to FT. Hood to hear the artillery. I have no .50BMG, but there are a few places on the property to get 1000 yards - I usually do 500m with .308 and .223.

Your best bet to shoot full auto would probably be in Vegas. I have a few semi-auto AR15s, AKs, FALs, M1s, etc. since I cannot be trusted by my gov. to shoot more quickly than that.

I've never been to any public gun ranges there since I live in the Austin area. Here are a few ideas, but you probably need your own guns:

I wasnt aware that full auto shooting is kind of special in the United States so i will have to look around in Vegas what i can find. There are some ranges that offer full auto shooting but they havent replied to my emails.

mstirton, if you dont mind having a kraut around and you will be happening to be in town when iam there id love to meet you and do some shooting. Ill be in town about 29th March 2011 till 2nd April 2011.

Killeen isn't too far from me and there's a decent indoor range here. You can't shoot full auto, but there are quite a few firearms you can rent.

when I was there it seemed like half the cabs in vegas has signs on top advertising a place to shoot full auto guns. the other half advertised women.
