I just bought a new savage 110 in 30-06 and am now in the process of looking for a scope for it. This is going to be a Basic deer rifle, but will probably take it out west to pronghorn hunt with. Any Suggestions?

Scope

I would get a mid-priced 3X9. ie Nikon, Bushnell, Simmons, etc.

I dont know about the box store brands like Red Head or Pine Ridge but they are reasonably priced.

If it is in you budget go with Leupold.

I have a BSA sweet 17 on my Savage 17hmr and a BSA red dot on a pellet gun but would stay away from BSA on a big gun.

I have some friends who believe the scope should cost as much as the gun. I guess that makes sense. I dont always do it.:)

Depending on what ya wanna spend.

You don't need the Hubble...but

Iwould recomend a low power variable with a top magnification of 4 or 5X. I'd take that combination anywhere.......Essex

Bushnell 3200 or 4200 Elite
Nikon buckmaster or Monarch
Weaver Grand Slam
these will do nicely for a hunting rifle and are affordable....

I like leupold . I am kind of old school and am not crazy about the tendency to go with the higher power. They seem to be too heavy, too large, and too expensive when compared to lower powered glass.
If your budget is tight leupold has a line they call "Rifleman" that are fine scopes but if you shop hard can be had for $150-$200 .
