Hello members ;)

a good friend of mine birthday is comming soon, and his wife and i want to give him a small (compact) .45acp. he doesn't go shooting a lot, we want to keep it at around $400 max so i recommend a Taurus Millenium Pro .45acp but i would like to hear more options from you guys

check out the Rock Island Arms Compact 1911. my buddy just bought one and its quite nice. and its under your $400 limit. The one my buddy got has an extended beavertail safety, a nice skeletonized hammer, nice smooth wood grips, and has a great trigger pull that is crisp and consistent. My RIA Tactical has served me well thus far w/out a single hiccup. They are high quality guns for the price.

i believe sarco incorporated has them in stock still. google sarco inc and youll find their website. i think my buddy paid $360 before shipping and FFL. GREAT deal.

cheers

In the $400 and under price range about all there is available in a decent format is from Rock Island.

I'll take two. What's the name of that store?

"All Good Things Come To Those, Who has the Patience To Wait"

This gun took me two years of waiting, once I sent my order in.

That is how I acquired everything own; I once sent my order in for a Corvette; 22 years later the car arrived. Some thing takes longer, but I have the patience.

DA,

I don't have 22 years left!

One buzzard to the other: "Patience, hell! I'm going to kill something!"

Sarduy, Keep in mind the name is changing. RIA to Citadel (spelling?). Re-marketing through a different source?. But, their clearing the market of RIA's at this time to "release" a big batch of the Citadels. Same pistols, different name. Also try Bellshire Hardware out of Nashville.

I'm on my second Taurus Mil-Pro and I've had Zero problems with either. The first was a gen 2 dao, my current is a gen 3 sa/da. I own a few "snob" guns, I carry my Taurus. Ya gotta love a gun that packs 11 rounds of .45 in such a small, light package, is claw hammer reliable, and is cheap enough that if you drop it, you don't cry (much). I paid just under $400 for my stainless gen 3.

A Kahr CW 45 is both small and the price is within striking distance of $400.

It is also a lot easier to carry concealed than a 1911 platform.

Springfield Micro Compact go Loaded for even more fun. Or get a Compact Kimber. I have a Springer and Carry it fairly often. My main carry is a KelTec P3AT because it's easier to conceal.

incorrect information = two different importers - RIA is still RIA, two different pistols !

Love the PT145s, may get one. I don't really like IWB carry, but it sure is light and compact for a 10 round .45! If I got one, I'd get a Sparks summer special for it on order post haste.

I think the CW45 is a bit smaller. I'd like to look that one over, too. I haven't actually handled one. Only Kahr I've handled is the old K9, good gun, just too big and heavy for a 9 for carry. The CW45 might actually be pocketable and that would sell me on it even over the Taurus. Hopefully, it'd be close to as accurate as the Taurus which is pretty decent.

I owned the pt745 for quite a while and never had an issue with it. It has a thinner grip than the pt145, and it was reliable from round 1 to round 'howevermany'. I carry a Kahr CW45 now, and appreciate its longer grip in my large hands. The Kahr is also a very thin weapon, and it conceals quite nicely in my Don Hume IWB (designed for the xd, but I paid 5 bucks at the pawn shop). Another one I would look at is the Bersa Thunder Ultra Compact. My dealer has the 45 for under $400, when he has them. I have shot both the Thunder UC9mm and the UC45acp and they are great shooters.

I, too, favor the PT145. Compared to the compact G19, this little .45 ACP is miniscule.

My 2nd generation DAO is an excellent little 10 + 1 auto.
