Hi Guys and Girls;

Are you looking for somewhere to go on vacation this year for you and/or your family? Why don't you at least consider the Whitington Center in Raton, New Mexico? http://www.nrawc.org/

I flew myself out there a few years back and had the best time of my life. I spent a whole week there and shot on most of their 12 shooting ranges that range from one end to the other of the shooting sports. Pistol, Rifle Shotgun, Black powder and from 25 to 1000 yards depending on the type of range you select or try them all.

I rented a car at the local airport about a mile and a half away and ate in town at several nice resturants but I stayed at one of the Whittington Center Lodges for a very, very resonable rate. They also have camp grounds and cabins.
There are all kinds of wildlife everywhere. I woke up one evening to the sound of a herd of bugleing (or whatever hi pitched sound they make) Elk strolling past my window and there are Deer wandering all over the place and other animals that I don't even know the name of.

The Whittington property is roughly about 10 miles wide and 20 miles deep I believe. You can find it on a Google satellite map, it's just 10 miles SSW out of Raton on 64.

They've probably added more stuff since I was there last, I drove once and flew the next. If you want to get away from it all and have fun check it out on-line.

Have a great week everybody, Dan.

Bugle Elk Noises?

That means mating season as the males fight and get thier harems.

Should be very interesting.

What was the rates like?

I viewed Raton out of Amarillo overland towards Denver as a mountain drive, not a vacation spot. Now that we are looking at spots to visit.... this may be one.

Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas honors my Conceal Carry but NM does not. So that may pose a problem for me.
