Try, "Build Ammo, Use Up, Repeat"....
A good alternative! :)

Remington recommends disassembly of a new Express before shooting, spraying with Remoil, letting it sit for 30 minutes then wiping off all one can with paper towels, etc. This prevents rust and so on.
What is Remoil? I've heard the name but I don't know what it is. I have Hoppes #9 & Breakfree CLP already. Can I use either of those?

Do pattern, it's as needed as oxygen to get the most out of your purchase.

Enjoy.....
I'm going to print out the pattern sticky in this section and use it first chance I get. :)

Thanks for the advice!

Breakfree

Your Breakfree will do the job well. #9 will strip the crud but won't leave much lube film. The breakfree will take care of both the stripping and leaving a good light film of lube.

Thanks kindly!! Glad I didn't have to buy yet another cleaning product. :p

Thought I'd post an update. :)

First off, thanks to everyone for all the advice. Last week I shot two 23's and a 21 from the 16 yrd line. Getting closer to my first 25. :) I also got my father's MEC 600 jr and am happily reloading my own trap rounds (Win AA hulls, Red Dot, Win WAA12 wads, 7 1/2 shot) using the same recipe (confirmed with modern books) that my dad shot 30 some odd years ago. :) Makes for nice continuity. :p

I purchased a used monte carlo wingmaster stock and have replaced the standard stock. I've also put on a Morgan curved adjustable pad. I like the curved pad as (for me) it does a better job ensuring when I mount the gun it goes to the same place vertically in the shoulder 'pocket'.

I have the 'Stock Fitting Secrets' book en route; I'm going to have a go at adjusting that morgan pad when I know what I'm doing. :)

Now for a question: the guy I bought the monte carlo stock included the foregrip. However, he removed the metal tube and bolt carrier rails (looks like he chewed the wood up a bit doing it). Is there an easy/non-destructive way to move the tube/rails from my old old forestock to the new one? If not it's now biggie; I'm thinking of painting the stocks blue anyway. :p

There's a little tube-like wrench you can get thru Brownells specifically for removing the action bar.

 :barf:
