I've owned about 6 climbing treestands and the summit is it. The goliath is adequate for a 200 pound man. If you can shoot your bow over the rail it will be all you need. Get the rifle rest for gun hunting you can shoot steady out to 200.

Don't forget a good safety harness. You don't want to fall that I know.

I use a Tree Walker. Rated for 350# and climbs like an elevator. Comfortable for all day and safe. Use a harness at all times when off the ground.

I had an old one that I loved (bought it used for $40 when the guy who owned it got too heavy for it). Then I had to replace it because I foolishly left it over night on public land. By morning it was someone else's. I notice that the newer climbing stands are designed more to avoid lawsuits than to be useful. There's 57 straps (mildly hyperbolic number), clips and snappy things everywhere, every thing's padded and the stuff they use to pad it gets in the way when you need to insert pins because it moves around on you. I miss my old stand. It was just a platform, a rail, and the side of the platform for raising the platform with your feet. Simple. I hate my new one passionately. If you can, do yourself a favor and buy a used, older one from someone you trust.

I've been using summit vipers for a number of years and been happy with them. I have no experience with other brands. I use the strips of skid guard adhesive tread tape for extra traction if the climber is wet.

My stand of choice weighs in at 12.5 pounds, has a 250 pound capacity. I've had it for ten years now and no problems.
It even has the ability to be leveled while up a tree if the tree at hunting height tapers off and the stand leans uncomfortably forward. Here's a link;

Make it aluminum, most come with the safety harness, use it, AND get a short piece of rope and tie the two halves together when going up the tree in case the bottom half decides to leave. It's happened.
