Looking for Comments on the Stag Optics-Ready Model

The local shop has a Stag Optics-Ready Model (sorry I don't have the actual model #, but believe this may be the entry level AR that Stag makes).

One of the main question I have is with the sights. Initially I want to get proficient at shooting with standard iron sights, so I'd need to get a front and rear to do this. How do I determine if I want the optic-ready model as opposed to one with a fixed front sight and removable flatop? Is it dependent upon what type of optic I plan to use in the future (and if I always want a backup iron rear sight)?

The rifle will be just for range use, so I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive and dependable. It appears from reading other threads that Stag is a good manufacturer to go with.

Fixed carry handles are so obsolete with today's options that there is no reason to go with one for most people. Plus, carry handle mounts are pretty high up for a decent cheekweld.

The flattop is the only way to roll these days for most users. Get a flattop. You can get a detachable carry handle or a back up iron sight system, even a BUIS with an A2 style arrangment of elevation and windage drums.

Some people are bothered by the front sight apearing in the optic, and some are not. Most don't seem to mind it if using a zero magnification optic, but don't like a fixed front sight with a magnified optic. You can also get risers for your optic to elevate it.

Stag is a good brand to stick with. But don't bother with a fixed carry handle model, go with a flattop.

Is this the model you are talking about? If so, you can get a detachable fixed or front flip sight, no problem, to go on the railed gas block.

I know in my post I mentioned removable flatop - that should have been removable carry handle.

I was thinking the removable carry handle and fixed front sight would be best to start with, but then once I move on to getting optics, I'd need to get a backup rear sight too, so it may be best to go with the flattop to start off, and add both flip up sights in the beginning.
