I have a Remington 721 30-06 that i just took apart so that i can do some refinish work on the stock and I was curious if they made any new but plates for this rifle that are rubber or something that will suck up some of the recoil.I know it doesnt kick much but when i start shooting it at the range im going to be shooting it alot..I have one of those recoil slip over pads that you throw over the stock but im looking for something permanent. Thanks for any info.I didnt get much from a google search.

get a sims vibration lab pad. grind-to-fit is always best if you are after a true, quality fit. if close enough is good enough, then take your rifle down to your gunshop and put a few against the stock to see what the closest fit is - start w/ a rem 700 wood-stock pad. you shouldn't have too much trouble finding something awfully close.

pachymar decelerators are excellent pads, too... i think they look much better than the sims pads, but on the lighter kickers, i don't think they work as well.

Take some measurements off your stock and go to the Brownell's catalog or website. Take your pick. The choices are numerous with models in several styles, colors, materials, thicknesses and prices from several manufacturers.
