^^^ So what are good rings and why?

Well tell me if this looks right:
On the savage website here, it says I can use Leupold #55742. I want to make sure that I am reading this correctly and this will work for my Stevens. I know my gun is curved at the top and I want to make sure that these mounts also are curved to match where I am mounting it on the top.
Here is where I found them online for sell:

On the drop down, you can select the exact model you want. I am not used to scope mounts, but that design looks really weird to me. I am used to seeing ones that clamp onto the sides.
Are these meant to go with those mounts:

Does STD (standard?) mean 1"? Also, how exactly are those rings staying secure in that mount? To me, it looks like it would wobble around.
I want to go ahead and order these tonight so they can ship out Monday, so a quick reply is appreciated
