I have seen them for sale in a half dozen places including gunbroker. They are trying to get a premium for them, but it looks like they are really all over, so I doubt if that will work for long. First one I saw on gun trader the guy was asking $900 for. Today I see many for 500.00. So if you have been waiting for one ,the wait is over. Let us know if you got one, asd what your first impressions are, thanks,

I was blessed to hold one few weeks ago along with 30 shot Keltec .22MWRM. What a day!

So...is this thread about the fact that the XDS might be available now, or a complaint at the $900 price tag associated with them? Personally, I wouldn't pay double MSRP just to get something soon after release...soon after release is when you get the problem children.

Sorry I ruined it. 12 for 14.

The XDS is SpringField Armory's new single stack .45 series. I think. If that is what the OP was talking about they well below 900 in my area and pretty common in shops and on the range.

$900 is an outrageous rip-off!

Have patience, something tells me that like all first editions of any new design there's gonna be some bugs and teething problems that will need to be worked out.

Plus there won't be as much price-gouging.

I also said that I saw them today for $500 on guntrader, so no one is reading the post, just talking about what they choose to talk about. Let's stay on point. Atleast let's stay with the gun mentioned not a high power. They are available everyare in all sorts of conditions and price catagorys. This is a new innovative carry gun. It is supposed to grab the market by storm. Not Keltek or CDNN, but Springfield.'s new 6 shot inch thick auto pistol in 45 caliber.

looks similar to a glock, little nicer tho. except for that grip safety

I fired two magazines through an XDS about two weeks ago. It feels slim and compact without feeling tiny. Prior to firing it, it felt a tad better in my hand than my XDm 3.8 Compact with the double stack configuration and wider grip. After firing, I found myself wanting a softer grip like a Hogue becasue the XDS kicks like a mule and rattles your forearm. Very accurate if you can ignore the recoil and not flinch. Should be easy to conceal. I have no problem with the grip safety. I find it interesting how certain brand fans argue that the grip safety is destined to fail at the worst possible time while not applying that same theory to their brand's trigger safety.

I've had an XDs for a couple of weeks. The recoil is not bad at all (then again I'm not shooting hot ammo) I've let a half dozen people shoot the gun and their responses were all very positive. BTW, I paid $500.00 plus state tax.

If you want to see first rate subcompact .45ACP try to find and handle S&W CS45. Excellent design in every way. The grip design and texture on the XDs is hopeless. I do not understand their approach at all it's not like people with tiny hands will buy tiny .45ACP pistol.

I don't understand their approach either, but when I fired the XD-S at the SHOT media day early this year, it felt good to me. I thought it was more accurate, more comfortable, and softer on the wrists than my Walther PPS .40. The fact that it shoots .45 ACP is another plus for me.

edited to add: I'm not comparing it to the S&W CS45 when I say this, because I've never even seen one of them in person, let alone handled or shot one.

The only problem I found with the XDS grip was the texturing was too sharp in my opinion. The overall size and shape are fine for me. I just thought rubber grips like the Hogues on my Sig 239 would help reduce felt recoil. I thought the recoil was pretty stout and I regularly shoot an XDm Compact in 40 and that isn't exactly tame. But the XDS was more of a straight back vibration inducing sensation without a lot of muzzle flip.

The sold briskly at the gun show a few weeks ago for ~$475

Personally I hope they make one a tad smaller in .40S&W, while I love the .45ACP, IMHO when the barrel gets below 4" you risk inadequate penetration from the lowered velocity -- especially if you get any expansion at all.

I've had an XDs for about 3 weeks now and put ~200 rounds thru it. It shoots well, I don't feel any more recoil than my Kahr CW40. IMHO, the grip is fine, i fits my hand well, which is all I care about.

It is now my daily carry, replacing the CW40.

I looked at one for I think 489 the other day. I was filling out the paper work for a sr22 so I only glanced at the price when he handed it to me.

What a really nice little pistol I was impressed...
