Need some help - my Ruger super redhawk seems to have a couple of loose parts. The ejector push rod is loose enough to rattle if I shake the gun, and the little plate between the hammer and the firing pin is loose enough to rattle if I shake the gun. Is this normal? It sure is aggravating if it is, and how would I go about fixing it? Thanks, Neil

The ejector rod movement is, I am certain, normal. The Super Redhawk (part of the same "family" of revolvers as the GP100 and SP101) ejector rod is actually "hinged" (i.e., pinned in place and pivots slightly) and does not rotate with the cylinder. Some movement is normal. The other part, I don't know.

"Loose"? "Ruger"? Not exactly an oxymoron. In Vietnam we used to have a saying: "Don't sweat the small stuff (or something like that).

I have a SRH and the part under the hammer is the transfer bar and it should wiggle a bit.

The ejector rod is secured in place by a special nut, make sure its not loose. You need a special tool (Brownell's should have it) to tighten or remove the nut.
