In my early years of firearm ownership I lost lots of sleep over what to buy next. With little money, I ended up trading for guns and couldn't afford (or justify to my wife) to have more than two handguns and a couple of rifles. To make matters worse it was the mid 1980s, the dawn of the double-action era when new and interesting pistols were coming onto the market all the time. I clearly remember lying in bed with my mind racing over details of the SIG/Sauer 220, Beretta 92, S&W 669, Steyr GB, and such. The next month it would be past midnight and I was awake teasing out the merits of Colt Government Models, Commanders, and Combat Commaders. Then it the obsession was to get an HK 91 or HK 93. More than once, my wife would sense my being awake and correctly guess aloud "Are you thinking about guns?"
Once I had enough firearms to cover the spectrum of "needs", I sometimes missed that kind of fevered wishing in later years. It has been renewed, however, over the past couple of years while choosing what suppressors to buy and what guns will be best to host them. I now recognize the pleasure to be had in the agitated fretting over what gun to get next.
