I mean load bearing type gear. I like military type gear in general, even though I have little use for it.
But this time around I'm thinking of something different. Sure, there are a million different tactical vests and such out there, but I had in mind something more along the lines of stuff for 3-gun matches and similar.
That is, magazine pouches for FAL mags, Pistol mags, revolver speedloaders. I'm also in need of holsters and shotshell holders to go with.
And, of course, a good belt to hold it all, so that my pants aren't falling down.
The stuff has to be designed such that your mags don't fall out when running and jumping. Full flap mag pouches preferred, as well as holsters with thumb-breaks.
Oh, on the magazine pouches, I'd prefer only one mag per pouch. Sure, it takes up more space on your belt (you have to have two mags side by side instead of two in one pouch), but during a quick magazine change I think it's preferable. For one, you don't have to fumble in the pouch (some dual mag pouches I've seen make it difficult to get one or both mags out), and you don't have to worry about closing the pouch (in many dual mag pouches, if you don't close the pouch, the 2nd mag will be so loose in there it'll fall out easily).
Also, and here's the tricky part. There needs to be a way I can configure the setup to be worn over a heavy winter parka (which means it can't be on the pants belt). It's very cold where I live most of the year and one must take that sort of thing into account.
Any suggestions are welcome. I like the stuff that 3 Gun Gear has, but I'm open to other ideas.
