Well I went to the Louisville, KY show yesterday with a good friend. I've never been to such a big show in my 35 yrs of show attendance. Marked prices were a bit high in a lot of cases, but most seemed willing to deal from overheard conversations. More Smith's than I've ever seen under one roof for sure.
I found and bought a VERY minty 6 inch GP100 stainless with the now discontinued half-shroud (at least I believe it"s a discontinued style), in the box with owner's manual. Gave $280 plus 6% KY tax. No fee for background check (I haven't met a KY dealer yet who does incidentally). I really thought it was new because it looks and checks out so tight and clean. I'm pleased.

WOW! Glad to hear that Toolmaker!

I was there too and bought some holsters. I really wanted the XD I saw new for about $375 but not positive I want an XD yet.

It seemed to be a pretty good show but the hall was not quite as packed as I'd seen before. I had a good time though!

missed it

Darn...I forgot all about it and there's just not enough time to race down there now before it's over. Did you happen to see any tables talking about IDPA competitions in the area? I'm trying to find a local club that holds IDPA matches. A friend is involved in another part of the country and I'd like to check it out and possibly participate locally. I'm new to the sport and cannot seem to locate a decent shooting range either.

Got any suggestions?

Wasn't looking for IDPA info so may have missed something. I DID however meet some VERY nice people from Shooter's Supply outside Louisville in the Lyndon area. Is a shooter and Police supply store with knowledgable staff, an on-staff member of the Kentucky Rifle Team (if I understood right) who helped my friend choose a minty used Bushmaster for target shooting, and the biggest selection of DSA FALs in stock I've ever seen under one roof. I'd be suprised if someone there couldn't give you information about regional IDPA shoots. Hope this helps.

thanks

thanks tons. I'll give them a shout. Should be really convenient for me too, since I'm over by the malls.

Glad I found this site this weekend.

Do you shoot competition or just for fun? Sounds like you might be a dealer too. Am I right?

Nope. Not a dealer. Just a gun geek X 38 years thanks to my Dad. I shoot just for fun and spend most of my gun time just admiring the ingenuity and machine work that goes into a well-made gun. Best of luck!
