I'm sure there are many safe queens or range toys out there judging from the pictures posted... but I'm finding a new love for a J frame. 32 for ccw.

Mine is a .32mag so power is low level. 38spl but, I get 6 rounds instead of 5 and less recoil. I still love my 342pd as my go to pocket revolver, but this 431pd shines enough that my girlfriend is starting to want it for her ccw over her charter arms pink lady.

Who else actually carries a .32 xyz revolver for self defense? As a primary, second or even a third gun?

3.2 inch Sp101 in .327FM is my daily CCW. I’m vacillating with possibly going with a semi only because of some of the craziness in the news got me thinking I need more rounds and quicker reloads. But, it’s a long term decision for me. I shoot the SP well with full power .327 loads and never feel undergunned because of the caliber.

I’d love to see Ruger shoehorn s single seven cylinder into the SP. I’d cough up the cash for a 7 shot SP101 in a heartbeat.

I find the .32 caliber family to be just about perfect. I currently have the following .32 caliber fire arms.

-Taurus 327, 2" 6 shot revolver
-Charter Arms Professional MKIV 3" 7 shot revolver
-Beretta 3032 covert Tomcat 2.9" 7+1 Semi Auto

I carry the Taurus while backpacking as Buffalo bore hardcast .327 will take care of any 4 legged critters in my area.

The Charter Arms is my EDC as I find .32 H&R magnum to be the sweet spot caliber for me.

The Beretta is what I carry when I need a small pistol. I prefer .32 acp ovee the whole .22 family for pocket carry because of reliability and noise concerns.

My elderly parents and gun adverse friends love shooting .32 s&w shorts and longs at the range with me as well.

So for me this cartridge family does it all, and I never feel undergunned using it for any of my needs.

.32 caliber is just as versatile as .38 IMO...just a mite weaker, if that matters. The big problem is ammo price/availability, solved by handloading. Smaller hands and muscles love the round, as do I. Target shooters here and in many countries agree and I wouldn't discount its self defense use.

I don't carry it, but I have an old Undercoverette from Charter Arms in .32 Long. It's a pretty little thing, made even more so by the imitation-pearl stocks I just put on it today. It's my only revolver in the .32 realm. It seems to date from around 1971, and makes a neat little sister to my three Undercover .38 revolvers, all of which are "vintage" as well (one of which is several years older than she is.)

Now THAT is great; have the .357 iteration, and it's a favorite. The sights alone are worth the price of admission.
dickydalton, is that a steel frame?
Thanks,
Moon
Yep, stainles steel, Tricon sights and a Crimson Trace grip. Shipped about 10 years ago and was fired only a bit when I bought it a couple years ago. I eat left handed and have a peg leg due to what it cost me!

Here's another tidbit...When Teddy Roosevelt was in charge of weapons procurement in New York City... He specified the Colt Police Positive as the carry pistol for the Police...in .32 S&W long. He was no fool...'Speak softly and carry a big stick' So, there. Heh.

Well, OK...it was over a century ago, time flies... 'specially when your havin' fun.

I carry a Ruger LCR in 38 special more often than anything else.

I think I'd prefer the 327 magnum version, but the 38 is the one I happened across used for a good price.

I have several that I tote for dog walking along our farm road...mostly for the fun of it...but still useful for the one nut-case hound that's sometimes slipped his yard chain. I've got four, currently, chambered in .32 H&R: 3 Rugers and a Smith M-16 (LSWC's in all of these), and a Colt Police Positive that takes .32 Long (this one's a perennial favorite for me). And in all of them, Hornady's excellent 85 gr. XTP does extremely well, accuracy wise and offers some expansion at .32 H&R velocities.

But that little Colt is really light & fun to carry, and will shoot to the sights in DA and SA with an ancient Redfield grip adapter to get a workable hold on it. That's it in the pic below and an open top Tom Threepersons I made up to carry it on the belt. Best Regards, Rod

For those who have revolvers chambered in .32 S&W Long / .32 Colt New Police, I recommend Buffalo Bore ammunition. When testing, I found that the BufBore full wadcutter fired from a 3" barrel S&W Hand Ejector revolver blew a nasty hole through a 2"x 4". This load was accurate and had noticeably more recoil than standard .32 Long ammo.

Numbers from Buffalo Bore

Nice guns folks, but do you carry them for personal protection?

Yes. I carry a Model 31 snub very often and my go-to years ago was a 3in Model 30 I Frame nickel.

Lately, I've been carrying the snub with 115gr SWCRN over a warmish load of Unique. I also have the speed strip in my pocket.

Both love my 100 DEWC .32 Long loads. As an over 100 year old gun (made in 1905) my S&W doesn’t get pushed nothing beyond moderate level cast bullets but it’s a ton of fun once you get past the tiny sights. The Charter Arms has really been great once I got past a few teething problems. It’s accurate, has a really nice trigger loves 100 Grain SWC’s at 900 fps in .32 H&R. My intended woods walking gun once I get back to the woods.
