Low-power scope for AR

That sounds vertigo-inducing to me. Not a problem? Can you do it while moving? Like through a 3-gun stage?

It's quite a bit more expensive to make a scope with true 1x magnification. Most scopes that have a stated 1x do have some magnification. I'm not talking high end. Not generally a fan of Vortex but do think the Strike Eagle is a good bang for the buck. I do prefer the Mark AR though. I've compared them head to head.

Vortex claims that their Strike Eagle is a true 1x.

What did you like better about the Leupold in the head-to-head comparison?

Glass. Never say never but I find it hard to believe the Stike Eagle is true 1x.

The language I quoted above - " A true one-power on the low end of its 6x zoom range " - is from the Vortex product page.

Like I said, I suppose it's possible Vortex is just lying, but they're pretty unequivocal about this.

I have Leopold 2X7 on 3 ar's. Very lightweight and inexpensive. Good for quick shots and longer shots when hunting.

I'm heading to a sporting goods store on Saturday. I plan to look through some of the scopes suggested here, including the Nikon and Leupold. Hopefully, that will give me some clarity. (A pun.)

The Leupold I was looking through (VX-R Patrol) was 1.25 on the low end. I deliberately walked around and swung it across various light sources looking through it with both eyes to see if it was a problem - nada. It seemed very natural to me :)
