I'm looking for some low (or lower) recoil factory .44 Mag ammo. Here's the back story:

I do not reload, and I'm not going to start. (I don't have the time or space.)

I find very little factory .44 Special ammo, and when I do it's more expensive than .44 Mag.

So, is there any factory .44 Mag ammo that you can recommend that is lower recoil than your typical WWB ammo?

I believe HSM makes some "cowboy" loads in 44 mag brass. A 240gr LRN at just under 1000fps.

That would soften things up and still be a bit more energy than 44 special.

The 44mag really does shine as a handloader's cartridge. It can be done with little more than a shoebox full of equipment.

You really need to reload your own!!!! Lol!!!

I assume you are looking for mellow ammo for target practice and plinking? I would search for ammo labeled target loads. Target loads are usually not as hot as hunting or general purpose loads since you don't need super high power to punch holes in paper.

P.s. like gotboost said ammo labeled cowboy loads should also be on the mellow side.

The Blazer aluminum 44 mag has been accurate in mine and fairly tame, not sure of the actual velocity but inexpensive as far as 44 mag goes. Plus your not saving the brass anyway since you don’t reload.

Unless they try to shove a 45 colt bullet down it's throat  . But this is just a sample of one I suppose.

@ Go pappy.....kind of curious what kind of revolver and barrel size....

Right now, just a Super Blackhawk with 7.5" barrel. The WWB .44 mag isn't terrible with that gun, but I'd like to find something with a little lighter load since I'm just plinking with it right now.

I also have a Marlin 1894S, and the WWB is fine with it.

Low recoil 44 mag ammo.

Now there's and oxymoron if I ever saw one.o_O
You scoff but it is what reloading is all about, given guns that are too small or light weight for the cartridge spec or a shooter who is not interested in being beaten up by a few rounds before putting the gun away. My cowboy backup rifle is my Marlin 44 Mag, in which I choose to run magnum brass. It also allows avoiding 44 Special in an alternate 44 Mag revolver. I shoot what is stamped on the barrel with few exceptions. The starting load of Trailboss with a 240 gr bullet to control velocity makes a fine target load in either rifle or handgun. It shoots about like 45 Colt Cowboy. No doubt there are other powders that would work fine too.

This lead RNFP from Georgia Arms 200gr is rated at only 750fps, exactly where a cowboy shooter would want it.

If you want to shoot a caliber with low recoil and be able to find it readily in stores - the .44 Mag. really isn't on that list.

Then rule out other magnums as well, especially 357. The 44 magnum is as versatile as any.

Even target 38s can be a challenge to find sometimes, maybe because so many are working that category pretty heavily. One who really shoots a bunch is likely ordering ammo to suit or reloading. NONE of my guns were chosen based upon my expectations of finding ammo locally. I rarely shoot full power in my magnums but also never shoot shorter cartridge alternatives like specials either. The only exception is cowboy, where follow up shots are as fast as I can make them and rules limit velocity and bullet type.

I'm fully aware of that, I reload. The OP said he wanted factory ammo so that's what I was responding to. He also said he wasn't going to start reloading so we can't ride that horse amigo.

HSM manufactures .44 Mag Cowboy loads if you don't want to do the .44 Special route.
A regularly stocked item at Sportsman's Warehouse stores.
