lube types?

Given there are different types of lubes I wanted opinions on just what parts respond best to what kinds of lubes.

Basically the liquid and dry types of lube, there's grease but to my mind that's better left to ball bearings then to guns. Just what works best on which parts of the gun better then other types?

Just curious and opinion fishing to strike up conversation

I use Mil-Tec on the AR's. Goes on wet. Bakes dry.

I use Mil-tec as well, they give that stuff to us like it is going out of style!

I use "Break Free" C-L-P basically for everything pertaining too firearms.
However, here lately I've been expermenting with Blue Wonder gun cleaner,
Eezox, and a Tuff Cloth as made by Sentry. I eventually hope to try the
Blue Wonder Armadillo as well~! Oh, I forgot to mention that I lap the
rails of my 1911's with Tetra Gun Grease.

I use regular gun oil for handguns and tetra grease/lube (whatever its called) for the rifles.

CLP and plain ol' white lithium grease (for rails and lugs) are about all I use anymore.

for oil lubrication i only use shooters choice FP-10. it is used exclusivly by Navy seals and it's the best.

FP10, Breakfree, Blue Wonder, a new foam style bore cleaner, the name of which I've forgotten.

I've found Eezox to be great a cleaner, but lousy as a lubricant.

The Mil Comm stuf TW-25B in oil and grease and then the cleaner /degreaser they sell work wonderfully. By the way the oil and grease work best if you use the cleaner/degreaser.

Let's see...

1. Cut the old gack off first with Simple Green if you can do a detail strip
2. (Optionally EEZOX it)
3. FP-10 most everything
4. Then I would Mobil-1 the sear contact points (15w-50 with Lucas Stabilizer)
5. Barrel bore should get a Gun Juice treatment
6. Then maybe some Armadillo or Militec followed with a HOT blow-dry on the
   (metal) magazine

How's that for a crash course on making the simple, complicated?!

Lubes

Wilson Combat grease for rails & slides. I like the applicator (a syringe with a shut-off, and with a nice long snoot for getting just a little bit of grease right in where I want it) plus the grease itself seems to work fine.

Have begun using Kroil for an oil lubricant--no final results as yet but it sure does penetrate into small crannies!

A bicycle lube called Dry Slide goes on wet and dries; has a super-long applicator snoot and has to be shaken up before use--again, no final results but it seems promising.

Usually Tetra Gun Grease. Some oils when it comes to areas hard to reach or enclosed pins where lube penetration is desirable.

Soak CLP all around, but I don't let it stay wet. I learned that from shooting in the desert over several days, it can attract fine dirt and can gum-up semi auto action.

Currently also using:

Tetra oil in the few instances I want an oil to stick around and penetrate.

Tetra grease on certain firearms where grease is a requirement. There is a place for grease on your lube shelf, just don't over do it - it can get everywhere.

Other than CLP, most of the grease\oil lasts a long time.

Where do y'all find the Tetra gun grease? I picked up a small tube from a local store a couple years ago (a little goes a long way, but its getting pretty empty, now), but that store no longer stocks it. Nor does any other store I've searched recently!

I like the grease for lubing the slide & frame rails on my 1911s and BHP.

Serious dosing & wipedown with Breakfree CLP on most of it. A light coating of "Slide Glide" for the slide rails.

On parts that wear I use a combination of MILTEC and Hoppe's gun oil, based on the thought that no one product does all things. Non-wear metal coated with very thin application of MILTEC.

Mobil 1 is good stuff (and it's cheap).
Breakfree CLP is good stuff (buy it by the gallon. It's much cheaper)
High quality autogreases work just fine (and they're cheap!)

I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of the high dollar exotic gun products are simply repackaged and repriced industrial products.

I'm quite fond of the Rem Oil in the aerosol can. It's even got one of those little straws that attach to it like WD-40.

Tetra grease for hammer pivots, M1 lube points.
Corrosion X for general lube on other points and corrosion prevention.
Eezox on points I don't want to gather dust and things like knife pivots as it dries.

Several places can order Tetra, I think both midwayusa.com and brownells.com have it. Used to be order only around Oklahoma City, but several places now carry it and Blue Wonder cleaner.

#4 makes me wonder about my new 870 will it stand up to abuse or will it crmble liekthe others/
