Hi everybody, this is my first post here after being a long time lurker. I was watching King Kong the other day and the captain carried a Luger P08 Artillery model which has an 8" barrel I believe. Does anyone here know how its accuracy compares to modern day handguns? Are there any common longer barreled semi-autos sold anymore (preferably something in .40S&W)? Thanks fellas.

Lots of long barreled revolvers still sold. If you meant auto loaders then the longest stock factory 40 cal I know of is the Glock 24 (the 9mm version of the 17L). Several companies make longslides M&P and HK make them but they are similar to the Glock 34/35 longer slides. The 17L and 24 have longer slides.

Some longslide 1911's.

And the Glock 24 is still produced by Glock in batches or runs but not on a daily or yearly schedule.

As far as accuracy of the old artillery Lugers, mine shoots pretty well but it's no target pistol. It's probably comparable to many of the common handguns out there today. However, unless you are just a crack shot or are shooting off a rest, you'll never know the difference. For what its worth, the standard length Lugers point and balance better IMO.
