Lyman 310 dies for .45lc issues with sizing

I am trying to figure out these old Lyman dies and am having trouble with the brass crushing towards the bottom of the case. The brass only sized down about halfway before the ram on the press bottomed out on the bottom of the die. It is leaving a line around the cases about halfway up and bulging the cases very slightly at the bottom. Any ideas?

I think you have the die screwed in too far.

The 310 tool only neck sizes far enough to hold the bullet.
It is not supposed to full length size the case.

I thought with pistol brass you had to do the full case. Thanks. I'm using these on a little Lyman turret press.

They're steel too, so lube is a must.
