Greetings,

One simple question:

Lyman 49th edition Reloading book has the loads that may be the most accurate with powder/bullet/caliber combo. How's your experience with that data? Did it show to be the most accurate in your rifle?

Thank you

I load that suggested load. If you are using the same barrel length, powder, bullet ect. It should be as they describe. It seems to work for me. I use them most of the time.

Many of the new Lyman catalog's "most accurate loads" are maximum loads. Since you are not using a ballistic twin of their rifle or Lyman's universal receiver, I would suggest you either back off 10% or use the starting load tod work up to this most accurate load. Remember what has been said many times previously: "no two rifles are the same". Be smart and be careful, reload safely.

Lyman accuracy loads are pretty decent guidelines.

I expect Lyman "accuracy loads" to be accurate if I happen to use the same length barrel, rate of twist, and bore diameter they used in their test. If my gun is not exactly the same, I expect to do some extra work.

My experience, Nosler's accuracy loads for rifle are generally very, very close to truly accurate loads. At least in 223 Rem, 7mm Mag, 270 Win, 300 Wby Mag, .30-'06 and 30-30.

They have done well for me in some rifles. Not so well in others. You just have to try them but always start 5-10% lower and work up.

I like to use the powder they used in their accuracy loads. It is usually a good choice for the caliber. I always work it up though. I learned a long time ago to never buy anyones "Pet" load and just load it up.

I've bought every Lyman manual since my first, #43, in '65. All have been excellant references for both newbie and old hand until the current #49. It's not bad but, compaired to previous versions, it's the pits IMHO. Little real info up front and a greatly reduced loading data section. I wonder what ever got into their collective minds.

I have no more confidence in anyone's "best loads" than I do in a bar fly's best pick-up line.

Anyone want to buy my hardly used #49, cheap?
