I just acquired a very pristine M-1 Carbine from a friend. It was his father's weapon in Korea (Ordnance officer). It has only one magazine. I looked at CDNN, but they only have 30-round Asian-made magazines. Brownells has none. Anybody know a source where I can buy regular, US-made magazines for a carbine (I mean other than the auction sites, I would like to buy two or three and not have to futz around buying them one at a time). Price is, of course, a consideration, but not overwhelmingly so - quality and reliability of the seller count for more.

Thanks for your help.

You usually can find "new" in wrapper USGI 15 round magazines for $2-5 a piece.

Before 1994. Ever since then, the cheapest I've seen a NIW 15 round Carbine mag has been $10.

At a gun show today, saw 3 15 round US magazines, best had light rust, $18 each.

Make sure you get GI mags, alot of the after market ones don't have proper lips and don't feed worth a hoot!

You may want to try Numrich Arms/Gun Parts Corp or Sarco Inc. and see what they may have also check into Tom Forrest or pick up a copy of Shotgun News.
Great little rifle you have loaded with history.;)

Anyone have the contact info for "What a Country?" that advertises in SGN?

I got some 15 round mags from them awhile back and they were a good value. About $9 apiece when I ordered 10, IIRC.

I don't have a copy of SGN handy and I'm headed out of the house. If anyone has their info and can post it for the original poster that would be helpful.

Trebor, I doubt you will find anyone selling USGI carbine mags for $9 any more. When the CMP announced they had thousands of carbines coming in, but no mags, the supplied dried up and prices sky-rocketed literally over a period of a few months.

J&G Sales has "original military" M1 Carbine mags in it's Shotgun News ad. Price is not too bad.

They my not be U.S. military the wording of the ad isn't clear on that.
