Hi and Happy New Year anyone have any info on this rifle? what is the value of it? my brother in law has one for sale and wants 1,500.00 for it.

I don't know what they are going for now, but do know that they are a tough space to fill in a US GI WWII collection.

Does the rifle have the US ordinance flaming bomb acceptance marks?

Unless there is something very wrong with it, run, don't walk to get the cash. Don' try to talk the guy down more than $100, and that just to keep up appearances. Don't want to make him suspicious by snatching too fast!

Go shoot it and enjoy it, and then put it on the market for $5,000 or $6,000. They're rare and quite valuable.

(The above recommendations assume that, like most bro-in-law situations, you don't like the guy, have much to do with him, or have a great desire to "smarten up a chump.") :D

Military Firearms Third Edition, pre-panic of 2009, prices the 1941 Johnson semi-automatic Rifle at Exc. $4500, VG $3500, Gd $2000, Fair, $1000, Poor $500.

Make sure that it's in good shape before firing. These guns will sometimes fire out of battery if improperly maintained.

They are a true WWII collectible.

Do some research (try searching google and this forum) on the Johnson before buying it so that you know what you are looking at. A lot of them were sporterized.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a sporterized M1941.

If you can post some pics of it, we could help you.
